A vulnerability was found in SAP R and 3 (affected version not known). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the component sapdba Command. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-269. Unspecified vulnerability in the sapdba command in SAP with Informix before 700, and 700 up to patch 100, allows local users to execute arbitrary commands via unknown vectors related to "insecure environment variable" handling.
The bug was discovered 04/20/2005. The weakness was shared 05/18/2006 by Leandro Meiners with Cybsec S.A. (Website). The advisory is shared at cybsec.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-2547 since 05/22/2006. The attack can only be initiated within the local network. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 393 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k.
Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at sapdb.org.
