Details
A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Samsung Exynos 1280, Exynos 2200 and Exynos Modem 5300 (version unknown). This vulnerability affects an unknown function of the component IPv4 Fragmentation Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a integer overflow vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-190. The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound, when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This can introduce other weaknesses when the calculation is used for resource management or execution control. As an impact it is known to affect availability. CVE summarizes:
An issue was discovered in Samsung Exynos Mobile Processor and Baseband Modem Processor for Exynos 1280, Exynos 2200, and Exynos Modem 5300. An integer overflow in IPv4 fragment handling can occur due to insufficient parameter validation when reassembling these fragments.
The weakness was presented 04/04/2023. The advisory is available at semiconductor.samsung.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2023-28613 since 03/18/2023. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
