A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in raysan5 raylib up to 4.4.x. This issue affects the function emscripten_run_script of the component SetClipboardText API. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-79. The product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users. Impacted is integrity. Versions of the package raysan5/raylib before 4.5.0 are vulnerable to Cross-site Scripting (XSS) such that the SetClipboardText API does not properly escape the ' character, allowing attacker-controlled input to break out of the string and execute arbitrary JavaScript via emscripten_run_script function. **Note:** This vulnerability is present only when compiling raylib for PLATFORM_WEB. All the other Desktop/Mobile/Embedded platforms are not affected.
The weakness was released 04/14/2023 as 2954. It is possible to read the advisory at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2023-26123 since 02/20/2023. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
Upgrading to version 4.5.0 eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at github.com. Applying the patch b436c8d7e5346a241b00511a11585936895d959d is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com.
