Details
A vulnerability was found in Open Design Alliance Drawings SDK. It has been classified as critical. This affects an unknown code block of the component DXF File Parser. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a heap-based overflow vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-122. A heap overflow condition is a buffer overflow, where the buffer that can be overwritten is allocated in the heap portion of memory, generally meaning that the buffer was allocated using a routine such as malloc(). This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
A heap-based buffer overflow exists in the DXF file reading procedure in Open Design Alliance Drawings SDK before 2023.6. The specific flaw exists within the parsing of DXF files. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied XRecord data prior to copying it to a fixed-length heap-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process.
The weakness was disclosed 04/15/2023. The advisory is shared at opendesign.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2023-22670 since 01/06/2023. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
Upgrading to version 2023.6 eliminates this vulnerability.
