A vulnerability was found in GNU Mailman (Mail Client Software) and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing. The password generation in mailman before 2.1.5 generates only 5 million unique passwords, which makes it easier for remote attackers to guess passwords via a brute force attack.
The bug was discovered 01/12/2005. The weakness was presented 12/31/2004 by Florian Weimer (Website). The advisory is available at bugs.debian.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2004-1143 since 12/06/2004. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
