A vulnerability was found in ImageMagick 6.8.8-5 (Image Processing Software). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects the function WritePSDImage of the file coders/psd.c of the component PSD Image Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds write vulnerability. Stack-based buffer overflow in the WritePSDImage function in coders/psd.c in ImageMagick, possibly 6.8.8-5, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted PSD image, involving the L%06ld string, a different vulnerability than CVE-2014-1947.
The weakness was presented 04/21/2023. The advisory is shared for download at lists.opensuse.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-2030 since 02/19/2014. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details and also a public exploit are known.
