Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Jellyfin up to 10.8.9. This affects an unknown part of the file /ClientLog/Document. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Jellyfin is a free-software media system. Versions starting with 10.8.0 and prior to 10.8.10 and prior have a directory traversal vulnerability inside the `ClientLogController`, specifically `/ClientLog/Document`. When combined with a cross-site scripting vulnerability (CVE-2023-30627), this can result in file write and arbitrary code execution. Version 10.8.10 has a patch for this issue. There are no known workarounds.
The weakness was shared 04/25/2023 as GHSA-89hp-h43h-r5pq. The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2023-30626 since 04/13/2023. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1006 for this issue.
