A vulnerability was found in Onnuri Infotek Activepost Standard 3.1 and classified as problematic. This issue affects some unknown functionality. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in the file server in ActivePost Standard 3.1 allows remote authenticated users to upload arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the filename.
The weakness was shared 12/31/2004 by Luigi Auriemma as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at marc.theaimsgroup.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2004-1548 since 02/20/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely.
