A vulnerability was found in Silent Storm Portal 2.1 and classified as critical. This issue affects some unknown processing of the file profile.php. The manipulation of the argument mail with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. profile.php in Silent Storm Portal 2.1 and 2.2 allows remote attackers to gain privileges by setting the mail parameter to 1, which is the value for an administrator.
The weakness was disclosed 09/30/2004 by r00t (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at cyberspy.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2004-1567 since 02/20/2005.
