A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in XWiki Platform up to 14.5 (Content Management System). Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality. XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform. Prior to version 14.6-rc-1, HTML rendering didn't check for dangerous attributes/attribute values. This allowed cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks via attributes and link URLs, e.g., supported in XWiki syntax. This has been patched in XWiki 14.6-rc-1. There are no known workarounds apart from upgrading to a fixed version.
The weakness was disclosed 05/10/2023 as GHSA-6gf5-c898-7rxp. The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2023-32070 since 05/01/2023. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
Upgrading to version 14.6-rc-1 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch c40e2f5f9482ec6c3e71dbf1fff5ba8a5e44cdc1 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
