Details
A vulnerability was found in PostgreSQL (Database Software) (unknown version) and classified as critical. This issue affects an unknown code block of the component User ID Handler. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-20. The product receives input or data, but it does
not validate or incorrectly validates that the input has the
properties that are required to process the data safely and
correctly. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Row security policies disregard user ID changes after inlining; PostgreSQL could permit incorrect policies to be applied in certain cases where role-specific policies are used and a given query is planned under one role and then executed under other roles. This scenario can happen under security definer functions or when a common user and query is planned initially and then re-used across multiple SET ROLEs. Applying an incorrect policy may permit a user to complete otherwise-forbidden reads and modifications. This affects only databases that have used CREATE POLICY to define a row security policy.
The weakness was disclosed 05/13/2023. It is possible to read the advisory at rapid7.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2023-2455 since 05/01/2023. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
