A vulnerability has been found in Opentext Documentum Content Server up to 23.1 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the file dm_secure_writer. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
OpenText Documentum Content Server before 23.2 has a flaw that allows for privilege escalation from a non-privileged Documentum user to root. The software comes prepackaged with a root owned SUID binary dm_secure_writer. The binary has security controls in place preventing creation of a file in a non-owned directory, or as the root user. However, these controls can be carefully bypassed to allow for an arbitrary file write as root.
The weakness was presented 05/18/2023. The advisory is available at gist.github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2023-31871 since 04/29/2023. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
Upgrading to version 23.2 eliminates this vulnerability.
