SpamAssassin before 3.1.3, when running with vpopmail and the paranoid (-P) switch, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via a crafted message that is not properly handled when invoking spamd with the virtual pop username.

The weakness was shared 06/06/2006 with SpamAssassin Team as RHSA-2006:0543 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securitytracker.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2006-2447 since 05/18/2006. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
