A vulnerability was found in WowBB Web Forum 1.61 (Forum Software). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown function of the file view_user.php. The manipulation of the argument forum_id with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in WowBB Forum 1.61 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the (1) sort_by or (2) page parameters to view_user.php, or the (3) forum_id parameter to view_topic.php. NOTE: the sort_by vector was later reported to be present in WowBB 1.65.

The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2004-2181 since 07/11/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1505 for this issue.
