A vulnerability was found in Duware Duclassmate 1.0/1.1. It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown part of the file account.asp of the component Account. The manipulation of the argument MM_recordId with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. account.asp in DUware DUclassmate 1.0 through 1.1 allows remote attackers to change the passwords for arbitrary users by modifying the MM_recordId parameter on the "My Account" page.
The weakness was published 10/12/2004 by Soroush Dalili (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2004-2198 since 07/11/2005. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
