A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, has been found in Open Webmail up to 2.31. Affected by this issue is the function read_list_from_file of the file vacation.pl. The manipulation of the argument filename with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-269. The read_list_from_file function in vacation.pl for OpenWebmail before 2.32 20040629 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via shell metacharacters in a filename argument.
The bug was discovered 06/29/2004. The weakness was released 07/06/2004 by Ken Girrard (Website). The advisory is available at sourceforge.net.
