SICK EventCam App channel accessible

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Summaryinfo

A vulnerability marked as critical has been reported in SICK EventCam App. This vulnerability affects unknown code. This manipulation causes channel accessible. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2023-31410. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. There is no exploit available.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as critical was found in SICK EventCam App (the affected version is unknown). Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a channel accessible vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-300. The product does not adequately verify the identity of actors at both ends of a communication channel, or does not adequately ensure the integrity of the channel, in a way that allows the channel to be accessed or influenced by an actor that is not an endpoint. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

A remote unprivileged attacker can intercept the communication via e.g. Man-In-The-Middle, due to the absence of Transport Layer Security (TLS) in the SICK EventCam App. This lack of encryption in the communication channel can lead to the unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information. The attacker can exploit this weakness to eavesdrop on the communication between the EventCam App and the Client, and potentially manipulate the data being transmitted.

The weakness was shared 06/19/2023 as sca-2023-0005. The advisory is shared at sick.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2023-31410 since 04/27/2023. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 07/15/2023). MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1557 for this issue.

There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
