A vulnerability was found in Parse Server up to 5.5.2/6.2.1 and classified as critical. This issue affects some unknown processing of the component BSON Parser. Parse Server is an open source backend that can be deployed to any infrastructure that can run Node.js. Prior to versions 5.5.2 and 6.2.1, an attacker can use a prototype pollution sink to trigger a remote code execution through the MongoDB BSON parser. A patch is available in versions 5.5.2 and 6.2.1.
The weakness was disclosed 06/29/2023 as 8674. The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2023-36475 since 06/21/2023. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059 for this issue.
