A vulnerability was found in 1st Class Internet Solutions 1st Class Mail Server 4.01 (Mail Server Software) and classified as problematic. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the component Mail server. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in 1st Class Mail Server 4.01 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a ".." (dot dot) sequences in unknown vectors.
The weakness was presented 04/08/2004 by Dr_insane (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2004-2446 since 08/20/2005.
