A vulnerability has been found in PHP Gift Registry up to 1.3.5 (Programming Language Software) and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the file event.php. The manipulation of the argument message with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in PHP Gift Registry 1.3.5 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the message parameter to (1) event.php or (2) index.php.
The weakness was presented 12/10/2004 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2004-2484 since 10/25/2005. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim.
