A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Trend Micro Control Manager up to 3.5 (Log Management Software). Affected by this issue is an unknown code of the component Web-Frontend. The manipulation of the argument Username with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Trend Micro Control Manager (TMCM) 3.5 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the username field on the login page, which is not properly sanitized before being displayed in the error log.
The weakness was disclosed 06/27/2006 by Darren Bounds with Intrusense (Website). The advisory is available at lists.grok.org.uk. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2006-3261 since 06/27/2006.
