Details
A vulnerability was found in Qualcomm FastConnect 6800, FastConnect 6900, FastConnect 7800, QCA6391, QCA6426, QCA6436, QCN9074, QCS410, QCS610, SD865 5G, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Mobile Platform, Snapdragon 865 5G Mobile Platform and Snapdragon 865+ 5G Mobile Platform (Chip Software). It has been classified as critical. Affected is some unknown processing. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-416. The product reuses or references memory after it has been freed. At some point afterward, the memory may be allocated again and saved in another pointer, while the original pointer references a location somewhere within the new allocation. Any operations using the original pointer are no longer valid because the memory "belongs" to the code that operates on the new pointer. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
In the function call related to CAM_REQ_MGR_RELEASE_BUF there is no check if the buffer is being used. So when a function called cam_mem_get_cpu_buf to get the kernel va to use, another thread can call CAM_REQ_MGR_RELEASE_BUF to unmap the kernel va which cause UAF of the kernel address.
The weakness was disclosed 08/08/2023. The advisory is available at qualcomm.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2023-28577 since 03/17/2023. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
