A vulnerability was found in WeOnlyDo! up to 2.3.2.96 and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the file wodftpdlx.ocx of the component ActiveX. Buffer overflow in the WodFtpDLX.ocx (WeOnlyDo!) ActiveX component before 2.3.2.97, as used by CoffeeCup Direct FTP 6.2.0.62 and CoffeeCup Free FTP 3.0.0.10, and possibly other applications, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a long filename.
The bug was discovered 11/16/2004. The weakness was disclosed 11/22/2004 by Komrade (Website). The advisory is available at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2004-1118 since 11/30/2004. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known.
A public exploit has been developed by Komrade in ANSI C and been published immediately after the advisory. The exploit is available at unsecure.altervista.org. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 6 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k.
Upgrading to version 2.3.2.97 eliminates this vulnerability.
