A vulnerability was found in Citrix MetaFrame 1.8/3.0 on Windows (Connectivity Software). It has been declared as critical. Citrix MetaFrame up to XP 1.0 Feature 1, except when running on Windows Server 2003, installs a registry key with an insecure ACL, which allows remote authenticated users to gain privileges.
The weakness was presented 07/19/2006 by Andres Tarasco with SIA Group (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at support.citrix.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2006-3779 since 07/21/2006. The attack can be launched remotely. A single authentication is necessary for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
