A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in SGI IRIX 6.5 (Operating System). This issue affects an unknown functionality of the file /bin/jsh. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. inpview in SGI IRIX allows local users to execute arbitrary commands via the SUN_TTSESSION_CMD environment variable, which is executed by inpview without dropping privileges.
The issue has been introduced in 06/01/1998. The weakness was presented 01/13/2005 by iDefense Labs with iDEFENSE Labs (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at archives.neohapsis.com.
