CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in FreeRDP up to 2.10.x/3.0.0-beta2. It has been classified as problematic. Affected is the function rfx_process_message_tileset. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. This is going to have an impact on availability. CVE summarizes:

FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), released under the Apache license. Affected versions of FreeRDP are subject to a Null Pointer Dereference leading a crash in the RemoteFX (rfx) handling. Inside the `rfx_process_message_tileset` function, the program allocates tiles using `rfx_allocate_tiles` for the number of numTiles. If the initialization process of tiles is not completed for various reasons, tiles will have a NULL pointer. Which may be accessed in further processing and would cause a program crash. This issue has been addressed in versions 2.11.0 and 3.0.0-beta3. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.

The weakness was released 09/01/2023 as GHSA-q9x9-cqjc-rgwq. The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2023-39351 since 07/28/2023. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 216351 (Debian dla-4053 : freerdp2-dev - security update), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.

Upgrading to version 2.11.0 or 3.0.0-beta3 eliminates this vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at Tenable (216351). If you want to get best quality of vulnerability data, you may have to visit VulDB.
