Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in FreeRDP up to 2.10.x/3.0.0-beta2. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the file libfreerdp/codec/rfx.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-125. The product reads data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer. As an impact it is known to affect availability. CVE summarizes:
FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), released under the Apache license. Affected versions are subject to a missing offset validation leading to Out Of Bound Read. In the `libfreerdp/codec/rfx.c` file there is no offset validation in `tile->quantIdxY`, `tile->quantIdxCb`, and `tile->quantIdxCr`. As a result crafted input can lead to an out of bounds read access which in turn will cause a crash. This issue has been addressed in versions 2.11.0 and 3.0.0-beta3. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.
The weakness was published 09/01/2023 as GHSA-hg53-9j9h-3c8f. The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2023-39353 since 07/28/2023. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
