A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in LG LED Assistant (the affected version unknown). This issue affects an unknown part of the file /api/installation/setThumbnailRc. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of LG LED Assistant. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the /api/installation/setThumbnailRc endpoint. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied path prior to using it in file operations. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current user.
