Yahoo! Messenger 6.0.0.1750, and possibly other versions before 6.0.0.1921, does not properly display long filenames in file dialog boxes, which could allow remote attackers to trick users into downloading and executing programs via file names containing a large number of spaces and multiple file extensions.
The bug was discovered 02/18/2005. The weakness was presented 02/17/2005 by Andreas Sandblad (Website). The advisory is available at secunia.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2005-0243 since 02/08/2005. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
