Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Xinkaa Web Station up to 1.0.3. This affects an unknown function. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:
Directory traversal vulnerability in Xinkaa 1.0.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via (1) ../ and (2) ..\ characters in an HTTP request.
The weakness was released 02/18/2005 by Luigi Auriemma (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2005-0502 since 02/21/2005. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1006 for this issue.
It is declared as proof-of-concept.
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
