A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in AI ChatBot Plugin up to 4.8.9 on WordPress (WordPress Plugin). Affected by this issue is the function qc_wpbo_search_response. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The ChatBot plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to SQL Injection via the $strid parameter in versions up to, and including, 4.8.9 due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database.
The weakness was disclosed 10/12/2023. The advisory is shared for download at wordfence.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2023-5204 since 09/26/2023. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1505.
