A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in ASPjar ASPjar Guestbook 1.0. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the file login.asp. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. SQL injection vulnerability in login.asp in ASPjar Guestbook allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the password field.

The bug was discovered 02/11/2005. The weakness was disclosed 04/27/2005 by farhad koosha (FarhadKey) (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2005-0423 since 02/15/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1505 for this issue.

The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 75 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:login.asp it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 16389 , which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
