Details
A vulnerability was found in Twisted up to 23.9.x. It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the component HTTP Request Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a request smuggling vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-444. The product acts as an intermediary HTTP agent
(such as a proxy or firewall) in the data flow between two
entities such as a client and server, but it does not
interpret malformed HTTP requests or responses in ways that
are consistent with how the messages will be processed by
those entities that are at the ultimate destination. As an impact it is known to affect integrity. CVE summarizes:
Twisted is an event-based framework for internet applications. Prior to version 23.10.0rc1, when sending multiple HTTP requests in one TCP packet, twisted.web will process the requests asynchronously without guaranteeing the response order. If one of the endpoints is controlled by an attacker, the attacker can delay the response on purpose to manipulate the response of the second request when a victim launched two requests using HTTP pipeline. Version 23.10.0rc1 contains a patch for this issue.
The weakness was shared 10/26/2023 as GHSA-xc8x-vp79-p3wm. The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2023-46137 since 10/16/2023. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
