The DIRECTORY objects in Oracle 8i through Oracle 10g contain the location of a specific operating system directory, which allows users with read privileges to a DIRECTORY object to obtain sensitive information.
The weakness was disclosed 05/02/2005 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). It is possible to read the advisory at marc.info. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2005-0298 since 02/10/2005. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation.
