Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Cisco Identity Services Engine Software (Policy Management Software). Affected is some unknown functionality of the component CLI. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a command injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-77. The product constructs all or part of a command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended command when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
A vulnerability in a specific Cisco ISE CLI command could allow an authenticated, local attacker to perform command injection attacks on the underlying operating system and elevate privileges to root. To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker must have valid Read-only-level privileges or higher on the affected device. This vulnerability is due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by submitting a crafted CLI command. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to elevate privileges to root.
The weakness was published 11/01/2023 as cisco-sa-ise-injection-QeXegrCw. The advisory is shared for download at sec.cloudapps.cisco.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2023-20175 since 10/27/2022. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1202.
