Details
A vulnerability was found in GTK GTK+ up to 2.0.17. It has been classified as problematic. Affected is some unknown functionality. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
Directory traversal vulnerability in gftp before 2.0.18 for GTK+ allows remote malicious FTP servers to read arbitrary files via .. (dot dot) sequences in filenames returned from a LIST command.
The bug was discovered 02/14/2005. The weakness was disclosed 05/02/2005 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at distro.conectiva.com.br.
