Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.5.10 (Operating System). Affected by this issue is the function brcmf_cfg80211_detach of the file drivers/net/wireless/broadcom/brcm80211/brcmfmac/cfg80211.c of the component USB Device Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-416. Referencing memory after it has been freed can cause a program to crash, use unexpected values, or execute code. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
The brcm80211 component in the Linux kernel through 6.5.10 has a brcmf_cfg80211_detach use-after-free in the device unplugging (disconnect the USB by hotplug) code. For physically proximate attackers with local access, this "could be exploited in a real world scenario." This is related to brcmf_cfg80211_escan_timeout_worker in drivers/net/wireless/broadcom/brcm80211/brcmfmac/cfg80211.c.
