In Eclipse IDE versions < 2023-09 (4.29) some files with xml content are parsed vulnerable against all sorts of XXE attacks. The user just needs to open any evil project or update an open project with a vulnerable file (for example for review a foreign repository or patch).
The weakness was published 11/09/2023 by Jörg Kubitz as 10. The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2023-4218 since 08/08/2023. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
