A vulnerability was found in CuteNews 1.3.6 (Content Management System) and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing of the file show.inc.php. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in show.inc.php in cuteNews 1.3.6 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary HTML, web script, and PHP code via the (1) CLIENT-IP or (2) X-FORWARDED-FOR header in an HTTP POST request to show_news.php.
The bug was discovered 03/01/2005. The weakness was presented 05/02/2005 by FraMe (Website). The advisory is shared for download at kernelpanik.org.
