A vulnerability was found in Notify Technology NotifyLink Enterprise Server. It has been declared as critical. NotifyLink, when configured for client key retrieval, allows remote attackers to obtain AES keys via a direct request to /hwp/get.asp, then uses a weak encryption scheme (fixed byte reordering) to protect the key, which allows remote attackers to obtain the key via a brute force attack.
The weakness was released 05/02/2005 by CIRT as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). It is possible to read the advisory at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2005-0809 since 03/20/2005. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
