A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in Mathopd up to 1.6. Affected by this vulnerability is the function internal_dump of the component dump. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a symlink vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-61. The product, when opening a file or directory, does not sufficiently account for when the file is a symbolic link that resolves to a target outside of the intended control sphere. The internal_dump function in Mathopd before 1.5p5, and 1.6x before 1.6b6 BETA, when Mathopd is running with the -n option, allows local users to overwrite arbitrary files via a symlink attack on dump files that are triggered by a SIGWINCH signal.
