A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in EspoCRM up to 8.0.4. This affects an unknown functionality of the file /Attachment/fromImageUrl of the component Upload Image From URL API. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a server-side request forgery vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-918. The web server receives a URL or similar request from an upstream component and retrieves the contents of this URL, but it does not sufficiently ensure that the request is being sent to the expected destination. EspoCRM is an Open Source CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software. In affected versions there is Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability via the upload image from url api. Users who have access to `the /Attachment/fromImageUrl` endpoint can specify URL to point to an internal host. Even though there is check for content type, it can be bypassed by redirects in some cases. This SSRF can be leveraged to disclose internal information (in some cases), target internal hosts and bypass firewalls. This vulnerability has been addressed in commit `c536cee63` which is included in release version 8.0.5. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.
The weakness was disclosed 12/06/2023 as GHSA-g955-rwxx-jvf6. The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2023-46736 since 10/25/2023. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
Upgrading to version 8.0.5 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch c536cee6375e2088f961af13db7aaa652c983072 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
