A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Mattermost up to 7.8.14/8.1.5/9.0.3/9.1.2/9.2.1. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown processing of the file /plugins/playbooks/api/v0/telemetry/run/ of the component Telemetry Run ID Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Mattermost fails to validate if a relative path is passed in /plugins/playbooks/api/v0/telemetry/run/ as a telemetry run ID, allowing an attacker to use a path traversal payload that points to a different endpoint leading to a CSRF attack.
