A vulnerability was found in Fortinet FortiTester. It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the component Restore/Backup. An improper neutralization of special elements used in an OS command vulnerability [CWE-78] in the command line interpreter of FortiTester 2.3.0 through 7.2.3 may allow an authenticated attacker to execute unauthorized commands via specifically crafted arguments when running execute restore/backup .
The weakness was released 12/13/2023 as FG-IR-22-345. The advisory is shared for download at fortiguard.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2023-40716 since 08/21/2023.
