This issue affects an unknown code of the file sys.dbms_cdc_ipublish.create_scn_change_set. SQL injection vulnerability in the SYS.DBMS_CDC_IPUBLISH.CREATE_SCN_CHANGE_SET procedure in Oracle Database Server 10g allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the CHANGE_SET_NAME parameter.
The weakness was disclosed 05/02/2005 (Website). The advisory is shared at us-cert.gov. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2005-1197 since 04/21/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1505 for this issue.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 18034 (Oracle Database 10g Multiple Remote Vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Databases.
