A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Claroline 1.5.3/1.6 Beta/1.6 Rc1 (Learning Management Software). Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the file exercise_result.php. The manipulation of the argument coursePath with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in Claroline 1.5.3 through 1.6 Release Candidate 1, and possibly Dokeos, allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via (1) exercise_result.php, (2) exercice_submit.php, (3) agenda.php, (4) learningPathList.php, (5) learningPathAdmin.php, (6) learningPath.php, (7) userLog.php, (8) tool parameter to toolaccess_details.php, (9) data parameter to user_access_details.php, or (10) coursePath parameter to myagenda.php.
The bug was discovered 04/18/2005. The weakness was shared 05/03/2005 by Sieg Fried with Zone-H (Website). The advisory is shared for download at marc.info. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2005-1374 since 05/02/2005. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
