Details
A vulnerability was found in Hongdian H8951-4G-ESP. It has been classified as critical. Affected is some unknown processing of the component HTTP POST Request Handler. The manipulation of the argument destination with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Authenticated user can execute arbitrary commands in the context of the root user by providing payload in the "destination" field of the network test tools. This is similar to the vulnerability CVE-2021-28151 mitigated on the user interface level by blacklisting characters with JavaScript, however, it can still be exploited by sending POST requests directly.
The weakness was published 01/12/2024 by Robert Pogorzelski. The advisory is shared for download at cert.pl. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2023-49254 since 11/24/2023. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1202.
