Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in SitePanel 2.6.1. This affects an unknown code block of the file 5.php. The manipulation of the argument lang with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, and integrity. The summary by CVE is:
Multiple directory traversal vulnerabilities in SitePanel 2.6.1 and earlier (SitePanel2) allows remote attackers to (1) delete arbitrary files via the id parameter in a rmattach action to 5.php, or (2) read arbitrary files via the lang parameter to index.php.
The weakness was published 05/02/2005 by James Bercegay (Website). The advisory is shared at gulftech.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2005-1445 since 05/03/2005. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details and a exploit are known.
