A vulnerability was found in AOL ICQ up to 2003b Build 3916 (Messaging Software). It has been classified as critical. This affects the function MCRegEx__Search. Heap-based buffer overflow in the MCRegEx__Search function in AOL ICQ Pro 2003b Build 3916 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via an inconsistent length field of a Message in a 0x2711 Type-Length-Value (TLV) type.
The bug was discovered 07/27/2006. The weakness was disclosed 09/08/2006 by Luciana Tabo, Lucas Lavarello, Sebastian Cufre and Ez with Core Secuity Technologies (Website). The advisory is shared at coresecurity.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2006-4662 since 09/08/2006. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely.
