A vulnerability was found in Invision Power Services IP.Board up to 2.0.3 (Forum Software) and classified as critical. This issue affects an unknown code block of the file login.php. The manipulation of the argument pid with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. SQL injection vulnerability in Invision Power Board (IPB) 2.0.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via a crafted cookie password hash (pass_hash) that modifies the internal $pid variable.
The bug was discovered 05/05/2005. The weakness was published 05/05/2005 by James Bercegay with Gulftech (Website). The advisory is shared at gulftech.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2005-1598 since 05/16/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1505 for this issue.
